line

Photography using lines

I took this picture from a large pond, and chose it because I loved the vibrant green colours, and how the light bounces off the leaves and water which highlights the whole picture. The lines in the picture are created by the stemmed plant which have interesting branches shooting out all around the stem, which then draws the eye.

Lines used in this photo I took are in the bridge, the way the bridge leads off into the distance again leads the eye and is the focus point of the picture. I also like how there are diagonal line on the side panel of the bridge, then vertical and horizontal lines through the path of the bridge create points of interest. The natural light also hits certain parts of the bridge creating lines of shadows that go against the path which look effective. The reflection of the trees in the water also had to the calm and still atmosphere of the picture and makes it look very much alive. Finally the path gives the picture a great sense of depth by the way it's leads off into the distance.

In this photograph I took I thought the contrasting blue wood against the bright Greens looked eye catching, and the whole picture had a very natural feel by the way the plants are over grown and the paint has worn away overtime and weathered. I took this at an angle which made diagonal lines by the planks of wood, that added slight depth to the photograph.

Panorama

I took this picture using the panorama setting on my phone to create a long image of the scenery around me. I love the natural colour and light which makes the image look almost fictional and dreamy. The lines in the bridge also lead the eye into the photograph which creates depth and dynamics.

           Photos from the internet

This image of a spiral staircase uses monochrome colours which creates a sense of drama and excitement. The lines used in the image use a variety of directions which again are very dramatic and dynamic. The black and white colours give a slightly ages feel to the picture and give it a historic look, whilst also drawing the eye into the centre where the stairs spiral down to the dark and deep depths. The low colour saturation gives it a dreamy and soft atmosphere.

In this photo the line used is horizontal all the way through the photo, which adds a great depth to the image. The colours are  complimentary colours, and the photo has two side to it. One side shows warmth with the oranges and reds in the sun set, then the coldness comes from the blues and navy in the sky and sea. The composition is over all very contrasting, and dynamic. Overall the photo has a very calm feel with the subtle tide in the waves. The colour saturation is very rich as the colours are very vibrant, the more neutral tones of the sea, make the sky stand out and draw the viewer.

This picture of the London Underground uses complimentary colours of reds and greens, the lines make the photo seem very deep and play tricks with the eyes. The picture has been edited using a mirror or reflection which makes it abstract. It also has a slight eerie atmosphere because the tube is normally packed with people where as this is empty. The bold colours against the white tiles also add contrast and are the focus point of the photograph.
